Abdul Sillah (Sillah)

Sillah is the founder and head of the charity. Growing up during the civil war in Sierra Leone he faced many hardships. This gave him a deep and lasting love and compassion for people who are struggling. He passionately believes that access to a decent education is fundamental to enable people to progress. Sillah worked hard to obtain a degree in Business Studies and is working towards becoming a chartered accountant. He worked for a number of years as a teacher of business studies and now works as a government auditor.

Caroline Whitfield

When she was living in Sierra Leone, Caroline was told about the work of Sillah and the team and was keen to get involved. It was decided to formalise the charity in order to improve the chances of funding. Caroline’s role has been to improve teaching standards, work with the women in the communities and set up a UK branch of the charity. Caroline was an engineer, then retrained as a teacher specialising in maths and science. Caroline’s love of Sierra Leone started when she met a Sierra Leonean and thirty years later she has two grown up daughters who are justifiably proud of their Sierra Leonean heritage.
