Solar

We have installed solar panels in every school and in the school library. There is no electricity in the village so the solar light is essential for children close to the school to have the option of studying in the evening. The sun sets at about 6.30pm so facilitating evening study is really important.

The solar light is also an essential part of being able to run adult literacy classes. This is because the adults are generally working on their farms during daylight hours so would not be able to attend classes if they were held before sunset.

The only light source in the village also means that the school is used at weekends for village meetings and gatherings. Another way in which the school is at the heart of village life.
